Venue and date
The High-Level Symposium on SDG 6 and Target: Ensuring that no one is left behind in access to water and sanitation, will be held on 9-11 August 2016 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The opening ceremony will be held on August 2016 at 9:00 AM in the State Complex «Kokhi Somon».
To travel to Tajikistan participants need to obtain visa. Since visa for participants of the Symposium is free of charge, participants need to apply to the Tajik diplomatic or consular missions in the point of departure or on the way to Tajikistan. They have to present a Visa Support Letter or official invitation on behalf of the Government of Tajikistan. Exceptions are that the citizens of those countries which on the basis of bilateral and multilateral agreements are allowed to enter/leave Tajikistan without visa.
Citizens of some countries listed on the website of the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs (consular issues) can obtain visa in a simplified manner at the Dushanbe International Airport.
To get a Visa Support Letter, please send us a completed Visa Application Form (attached) as well as a scanned copy of your passport and a colored passport size photo 3×4.

Upon arrival to the Dushanbe International Airport, official delegations and other conference participants will be met by representatives of the Organizing Committee to be escorted to their hotels.
A shuttle car will be available free of charge for participants to transport from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport as well to/from the venue of the Symposium.

The official language of the Republic of Tajikistan is Tajik. Other languages such as Russian and English are spoken by many people within the country.
Climate in Dushanbe is continental subtropical, with dry and hot summers. The average air temperature in August is 34 0C at daytime and 24-28 0C at night.
Official currency in Tajikistan is the Somoni (SOM). Information about the rates is available on the website of the National Bank of Tajikistan. Currency exchange offices are available in banks and kiosks throughout the city and at the airport. ATMs are available in most banks, hotels and shopping centers.
To make international calls from Dushanbe it is necessary to dial the international access code, then the code of the country you are calling to, city code and subscriber’s number.

Public transport system in Dushanbe consists of buses, trolley-buses, minibuses and taxis. Taxi is widely used in Dushanbe and is not expensive.
However, participants of the Conference will be provided with transport to get to the venue and back. These services are free of charge.
Standard voltage of the electric circuit in Tajikistan is 220 V. Electric sockets may not correspond to plugs of your electric appliance, therefore it may be necessary to use an adapter.
